An ongoing series about sleep, anxiety, and finding calm. Written by an (ex?) insomniac.

Many sleep salves miss the mark because they're targeting the wrong thing. In this story I expound what does and doesn't ease my restlessness, and why.
Part of the task in rewiring an anxious mind is to see it as a protective (albeit somewhat misguided) force - a friend rather than a foe. What better vessel to explore this idea through than the friendly faces of Emoji? 😊
Dreams can be strangely revealing as to the source of your sleeplessness - but only if you interpret them correctly. In this piece, I explore how to do just that.
Acceptance can be a useful tool when you're having a rough night. Originally written for the Guardian Australia, this story overlays my insomnia journey with a 3am stroll through Sydney's CBD.
